MY SON POSTED THIS ON HIS FACEBOOK

What I posted on my facebook..tell me what you think

With
the election just around the corner there are some thoughts I had about
this election that frustrate me. First of all, I really don't like
being political because a lot of people [including me] just want to
hang out and forget about the election entirely. However, this country
is in such a fragile place and this election has become one for the
history books, one that will change the course of this country. The
youth seem to be in the boat for Obama, and overwhelmingly so. My
question is why? Many people forget that this country isn't just run by
the President but also the different branches of the government. WIth a
majority in the House, democrats are about to explode with glee because
they already hold the purse strings for the country and if Obama wins
it will be a blank check for Congress. By allowing this unchecked
government we are creating a larger and larger burden for the youth of
this country. The more we dig the harder it will be to get out. OBAMA
SUPPORTERS: Tell me what you think [respectfully] I'm curious if I'm
missing something.
Taxes: Obama's plan sounds like a gift from the "gods" themselves. 95%
of people will get tax cuts? Well the problem with that is around 40%
of the population already don't pay income taxes. Also, the top 10%
flips about 70% of the national bill. What people don't realize is that
Obama and the democrats in Congress also are planning on letting the
Bush tax cuts expire which will, by default, raise taxes on people
making $42,000 and up. Obama's plan to tax the rich more and then give
a check to people who pay nothing in taxes will tailspin this economy
into a deep recession. The top earners in our country are investors,
business owners, and big spenders. They are one of the biggest driving
forces for our economy and taxing them more will make them hold onto
more of their money creating a loss in jobs. Obama talks about how the
middle class is dwindling "11% of the middle class is gone" ironically
enough in that same year the upper class grew by...11% ! Instead of
sharing the pie around which will eventually dwindle we need to keep
making the pie bigger. Companies aren't stupid and will not take the
hit when it comes to taxes...they pass along the tax to us, the
customers. If WalMart gets taxed another, let's say, 1 billion dollars
they are going to raise prices and or cut employees to make up for
that. Whether or not you are a republican or democrat it is wrong to
play Robin Hood with peoples hard earned money. It is also important to
note Obama's definition of rich has already changed three times. It
started at $250,000, then he said $200,000 and more recently they have
said no one making less than $150,000 will be taxed. Obama's tax plan
is wrong for this country and its clear to see...it's Economics 101.
Abortion: I have a feeling that the issue of abortion will continue to
be an issue for many years to come. In this election though it comes
down to Obama's record once again. He adamantly fought a bill, that
ended up passing, that would require medical attention to botched
abortion babies who were delivered. He also wants to make abortion
legal in almost any circumstance. McCain and Palin obviously have
different views on abortion, and even differ from each other. However,
the amount of influence that a McCain and Palin administration would
have on the abortion issue is extremely minimal, if anything. Democrats
like to say that Palin is "scary" in her abortion views, but it's
pretty clear who has the scarier view when it comes to abortion. Our
Global Standing: Quite a few people I know have stated that they
believe Obama will give us a better image in the eyes of the world. Yet
I don't know how he can do that when he believes our Constitution is
"flawed", apologized to a crowd of Germans on behalf of America [...for
what?], and clearly doesn't believe rouge nations are too big of a
threat. Nicolas Sarkozy, Pres. of France even recently stated that he
believed Obama's views of Iran are simply "immature." Biden even stated
himself that an Obama administration would be tested
within the first 6 months of his administration. What is scary was that
he said that in what he thought was off the record, it was after the
candidates had been briefed on the national security issues concerning
America and it's future, and he went on to say that it wouldn't be
clear that Obama made the right choice so "stick with him." Leaders of
volatile nations have backed Obama for President because they feel he
will be less aggressive and less threatening. Why would we ever put the
people of our nation at risk? Especially when we are spread out in two
current wars. Obama is not experienced enough to lead our nation,
especially in these times of turmoil. Before the election was in full
throttle and the nominees were decided John McCain was an extremely
popular Senator for fighting against his own party when they were
wrong, and God knows the republicans have been wrong on things.
Democrats respected him, worked with him, then threw him under the bus
because he doesn't have a (DFL) at the end of his name on the ticket.
Barack Obama has been named the Senate's most liberal member ( and he
hasn't even been there a full term), and Joe Biden is third. This
country was designed to have checks and balances and what we don't need
right now is a country run by one party, much less the most extremes of
the party [Pelosi, Reed, Obama, and Biden]. This nation and the youth
need to wake up, throw party affiliations aside and do what's best for
this nation right now. Vote John McCain.

It is Time...

Well, it's time that there was a picture of Xiao Dan on our blog! She is beautiful and we are so thrilled to be closer to bringing our daughter home..I know it may sound silly, but this last week,.. I was consumed with praying for her, longing for her and thinking we have to get our home in order...like I was beginning to feel contraction!!....AND then July 24, I was walking out of the dentist's office with Jon and I received the call from our Agency....we got our LOC...I began to cry and Praise the Lord!!...Now the contractions are getting closer and I have to go in hyper mode to prepare....LOL...the nesting has begun....God is so good and we are humbled by His faithfulness to us as we try to walk in obedience to Him...Please pray for supernatural intervention , that angels will continue to minister to our daughter in the name of Jesus.

Last week or so I had a dream...where I saw her sleeping and there were at least 5 angels around her..they were massaging her head, over her heart and her legs and feet. One of the angels, with a face that I am sure has never frowned, it was so beautiful and perfect,...she smiled at me and spoke softly to me and said" She will know you as her mother!" I don't know if that will be right away or in time...but I have the promise that she will know! Well off to cleaning and readying my nest!! God bless you all and thank you for all your support and prayers!

Waiting.....waiting........waitin....

Well, we are awaitin" again!! I know that God is good.....I sometimes wish He was a little quicker! lol.....Not much to report right now...Jessi has arrived safely in Japan and is working at the church where she was last summer....just waiting for the "oh Mom, he is just wonderful, and um well,,,,,we will be living in Japan" bomb!! She just was made for Japan....she picks up the language so quick...I miss her.....
Hosanna just got back from church camp...and had a great encounter with God....we need adult church camp....but where it's just like kids camp....
PLease keep Maggie in your prayers....I'm just aching to hold her...we are 9 weeks into our 12-17 week wait for our LOC...letter of confirmation.....then we wait 1-3 weeks for our TA then we travel....so we are getting closer.. take care!

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Whew! We survived the first month of summer!

Wow! It is hard to believe that June is almost over already! We have had a graduation, getting a daughter ready to spend a month in Japan(leaving July 6th!), a daughter ready for camp leaving July 7th!, had a new gravel driveway put in, a new air conditioner, praise God-a new car, first one in 20 years!! no really first brand new one in 20 years! And we leave for the cabin next weekend for a glorious week of nothing!!...except mosquitoes,,,,worrying about the kids by the lake.....storms with no basement....ummmmm,,, ahh, just kidding. It's always great up at the lake! Jon can't wait and Ben wants to stay for a month!!

We started attending a small group started by the principal of our kids school....The Truth Project by Focus on The Family! Wow! I would highly recommend it! It is so easy to see how even as Christians so many of us have turned our backs to God except on Sunday when we go to see how the preacher is going to lift OUR spirits....rather than lifting up praises and worship to the ONE who breathed life into us.....it will only change when the church sees Christianity as a lifestyle, to live Christ, rather than a religion....I've been guilty of buying some of the secular lies out there...and I was very sad when I discovered this because I believe in Absolute Truth....but I'm praying that God would help me to see how I need to change many things...

We haven't heard any more on Maggie...we were hoping for an update and some pics but the orphanage decided to keep the camera until we come to get Maggie....bummer...I was hoping that meant that they thought we were coming sometime soon!! LOL! Always hoping! I do know that once we get our LOC(letter of confirmation-saying YES we want to still come for Maggie) we can expedite our travel! Yahoo!

Well, I guess that is all for now...don't forget to send fabric for Maggie's quilt!! Still looking for more fabric!

God bless,

Susan

Well, I just read that they are putting adoptions in Chengdu on hold......please pray that we will not be set back....and yet I know that God knows the best timing for Maggie to join our family!

We trust you God, please protect our Maggie.....

Oh My.....

Our hearts are so saddened this morning as we have heard of Steven Curtis Chapman's familys' loss of their little girl from China....Maria(one of 3 adopted from China) the youngest, was struck by a car and killed yesterday evening by one of her brothers. It was a tragic accident..Please pray for this family that has inspired so many to follow the heart of Christ toward adoption....It was seven years ago that we almost lost our then 2year old, Ben as he was accidently backed over in our driveway by a dear friend...We do know a small measure of your pain..May God immerse you in His healing balm of mercy and love.....

SURPRISE! YOU'VE ALREADY WAITED.......

EARTHQUAKE/AFTERSHOCK NEWS FROM HALF THE SKY

We have heard from Half the Sky Foundation..that no one was hurt at her orphanage....but then the aftershocks and we will hear from All God's Children today by phone...God bless, Susan

Earthquake

Here is a message received from Half the Sky this morning. It
appears the Chengdu CWI was evacuated again after a 6.0 magnitude
aftershock. Orphanages in the hardest hit areas have been unable to
be reached and HTS will be setting up an emergency relief fund...
details forthcoming.

Subject: Half the Sky's Children's Earthquake Fund
Date: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 5:43 AM

Hello again,

During the past several hours Half the Sky has been working hard to
get more information about the children impacted by the Sichuan and
Chongqing earthquake. We know that it is not only children in
welfare institutions who are in trouble. We know that hundreds of
children have been separated from their families, have lost their
parents, are hurt, traumatized and in pain. We know we must help; we
have been working to figure how best to do so.

We have just a little bit of news. There have been hundreds of
aftershocks, one reported to be as strong as 6.0. Children have
again been evacuated from the Chengdu institution. Relief workers
have arrived in the epicenter, Wenchuan. The Ministry of Civil
Affairs (this is the ministry that HTS works with and also the agency
responsible for disaster relief) has been unable to reach orphanages
in the most affected areas: Mianyang, Zitong, Deyang and Aba. There
are other welfare institutions in the affected areas but no others
that house children. Each of the four institutions above houses about
100 children. We believe they will need help. We will continue to
watch and wait.

Many of you have asked us to set up an emergency relief fund, like we
did during the winter storms. Given the nature of this disaster and
the fact that help for children may well be needed outside welfare
institutions (where we have a direct line) we have waited to set up
such a fund until we had absolute assurance that we could put a
system in place to deliver the aid where it is most desperately
needed.

Half the Sky takes the designation of a donor-restricted gift
seriously - that's our promise to you. We understand that when you
make an emergency donation, you put your trust in us. We have spoken
very carefully about this with our colleagues at the Ministry of
Civil Affairs. We now have their promise as well.

In cooperation with the ministry, we have now set up the Half the Sky
Children's Earthquake Fund. Your donations to the fund will be used
to provide emergency and long-term relief to children affected by the
disaster. Relief will include emergency shelter, food, and medical
care for children orphaned or separated from their families. It will
include temporary or long-term foster care or, when necessary,
temporary institutional care.

We have a commitment from the ministry that we will receive regular
updates on the use of funds and, most important, the well-being of
the children.

Within a few hours we will have available a dedicated donation site.
In the meantime, if you wish to make a gift to aid children in
Sichuan and Chongqing affected by the quake, you may donate through
our website, www.halfthesky.org. Please note that your gift is for
earthquake relief.

I will give you more information as I receive it. Please don't write
to ask about the situation in specific locations. I will tell you
everything I know.

Thank you for caring so much about the children.

with love,
Jenny

Ever Feel Stuck in the Revolving Door??

That's what life has felt like the last 2 months! I can't believe some of the stupid things I've done....like forgotten to send lunch with Ben and Hosanna...not once! but several times....!! The poor Stebbing children were saved from hunger by their teacher, Mr. McClain as least once.....thank you, Mr. McClain!! Almost forgotten to pick them up once! I've been working at the store too much(although the extra money has been a blessing) We just had a bridal shower for my daughter, Jessi's best friend Erin, who is getting married in three weeks....It was wonderful....but oops need to go and get Jonathan fitted for tux as he is their ring bearer...God, I hope he doesn't refuse to walk down the aisle!! In between all this....GET THAT DOSSIER DONE.....WE DID!..It's in and has been translated!! Yeah it can go to China!!!.....what??!! oh...really!?? oops! I FORGOT TO SEND IN OUR FAMILY PICS!! UGH!...But they are going overnite UPS...so hopefully our dossier WILL BE ON IT'S WAY TO CHINA TUESDAY AFTERNOON!!
Oh, and Jake is graduating from High School this June...the 5th to be exact, with his open house on the 14th.....oh and this week Luke turns 21!!! And next week Hosanna turns 14......aaannnddd next week Jake turns 18!!!! that means a family birthday party thrown in somewhere in the next two weeks...whew....and everyone wonders why I stay up until 1,2 or 3 in the morning....Lord, please stop the revolving door...long enough so I can step out for some time with You...Forgive me for not spending my time with You....it's easier when I'm tired to go to the TV or computer...or magazine...bring me to Your Word bring me into the Living Water to rest and revitalize..to put your strength in me.....I love you, Lord...

OUR DOSSIER IS SENT!

Well, after a lot of running around collecting paperwork.....our dossier has been

sent, via UPS, to our agency in Portland, Oregon!! Yeah!! Now we wait...and wait until we receive our LOC, which is a letter of confirmation, signed by us saying YES WE WANT TO ADOPT MAGGIE! That should take about 12-17 weeks(it will take about 2-4 weeks to translate, and authenticate our dossier to send to China, before we staart our LOC wait!) Please pray for us as we wait, that we would have peace and contentment as we look forward to going and bringing our daughter home! We love you and are grateful for your love and prayers! If you haven't sent your fabric for Maggie's quilt.....read the sidebar on the right and shoot me an email! God bless,

Susan

Katherine Hepburn & Stop Signs!!

So, today was totally NOT supposed to be a day in the car!! But that's how it turned out! As I left the house to take Jon to preschool and Jessi to her job at the YMCA....I locked myself out of the house! So...I decided to go to Tom's office and GET the KEY! Which was okay, because Tom has been out of town for 3 weeks(no I lied! It's just been 3 days..but FEELS like 3 weeks) and I couldn't wait to see him! I was there for about an hour or so.....and took off to pick up Jon from preschool and Jessi from her job at the YMCA! I was so swimming in bliss because I got to see my man....that I forgot to get the house key!! AAAGGGGHHHH!! So,I call Tom up to whine and plead, hoping he will ride up on his White Stallion and rescue his fair maiden and let her in the house! But, instead with a smile in his voice, he says, Well, you might as well go and get Luke(WHO IS AT SCHOOL IN MINNEAPOLIS) swing by here and get the key! What a great idea! I said but didn't mean it! Forgive me God! Jon wants to go to Target and gets very upset when I say NO! He throws a fit...and I keep driving...now on my way to Minneapolis and I get off on the wrong exit!!! AAAGGGHHH! So....I take the scenic route to the Art Institute(luke's school) turning into a bus only lane at one point!! Luke gets in the car and the fun begins! Now we are on our merry way to Tom's office to finally get the key! He starts talking to Jon in Spongbob language! Then they start talking about Katherine Hepburn and talking LIKE Katherine Hepburn!! Back to Sponge bob! Jon's laughing. Luke's laughing, Jessi's laughing.....I AM NOT LAUGHING! UNTIL I realize I am at a stop SIGN waiting for it to turn GREEN!! Now I am laughing.....You know, all this to say, God plans our days, so try as we might to plan them, we might as well enjoy when they don't work out because it could very well be where God wanted us at that time!! God bless and smiling,
Susan

Saturday/Sunday....China Time

Blessing's, everyone! Just in case you are wondering.....our blog is on "China time"! So, if it says I posted on Saturday....I probably posted on Friday....are you awake? Today we have our class in the Chinese language. It is hard as it is a musical language! Getting the tones right is very important as different tones can change the meaning of a word!! Tom already dropped out and Hosanna has taken his place! HAHA! Most of the men in the class struggle.

Well, I hope this day finds you well and blessed by Jesus!
We sent this Panda Bear to Xiao Dan(Maggie) for her birthday!

Waiting......

Now we are just waiting for our FDL(favorable determination letter) from the Immigration office. We are so blessed. ! I think about Maggie everyday...and wonder if we should be changing her name.....should we be calling her Xiao Dan?? We want to do what's best for Maggie...not what's comfortable for us....sometimes it's so hard to know what God wants us to do.....There have been days when I've looked up to the heavens and said, " I can make You a cup of tea, why don't You bring Your clipboard and tell me exactly what You would like me to do!" He looks at me and smiles and says, "Susan, if I told you everything I wanted you to do in advance, you would FREAK OUT and argue with Me.....(He laughs lovingly). Don't you know that I know the best way and will always give you grace and strength??" I know it's not worth starting a sentence with "BUT, God..." so I simply smile back and say, " OK, I trust YOU..."
Soooo, we wait....God's timing is perfect....and when it come's to our little girl's name??? We will know......when He decides to reveal it to us......we will know.....
